About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent choice and value   December 28, 2008

Excellent build quality and material, I am really happy with it since I started using it two month ago and I recommend it to everyone with limited space. Note that I am familiar with the commercial bikes since I was a member in the 360 HC in LA.

It works well. Built for smaller people, probably marketed to women. Surprisingly quiet. Folds up small.

Does not have a lot of fancy options, just the basics, but they all work.

It's unusual design allows you to pull it right up to a table. I actually use it while surfing the internet.

Good value, you get a lot for very little money.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad bike for the money, but too short.   December 22, 2008

Pros: inexpensive, pedals okay, takes little space.
Cons: difficult to adjust seat height (need to grease it), and seat doesn't adjust out far enough. I'm 5'10" and I have to sit on a book!

I'll say this. After several uses, here are the pros; Gives me a great workout, very comfortable, takes up very little space and can be folded to take up less, and fairly easy to move around on it's little front wheels, digital readout is simple to use and has good, basic uses (calories burnt, speed, distance, time)

Here are the cons; the seat adjustment is a bit difficult, I feel like I am at the top end of the spectrum for the height of the user meant to use this. I am 5'9" tall; The resistance will eventually not be enough of a workout as I am starting out, not too far from maximum resistance (I'm no slouch though. this may be fine for most). Digital display lacking cadence/stride.

All told, I like this bike very much. What it does for me far outways it's drawbacks. And at it's price, i'd call it a very good deal. If you're taller than me, you may be too tall for this equipment without a booster seat.

1 out of 5 stars Nice if it worked   November 24, 2008

I bought this bike for my son to use to get some exercise after being in the hospital for five weeks. It started making a grinding sound after 2 days. We took it apart to try and adjust it. It worked for about a day and then went back to grinding. I would have sent it back but I threw the box out right away assuming it would work.
