Clif Bars are high-density energy bars, designed to replace the fuel your body needs during demanding workouts. I use them during adventure racing, mountain climbing, and kayaking. They are excellent compared to all the other "power" type bars that are available. These are not "healthy snacks" for couch potatoes to smack on while watching TV. Do that and it'll end up on your butt! Used for the intended purpose, and when purchased fresh, these deserve the 5-star rating I've given.
I buy the variety pack at my local [...], and the price is lower than Amazon's gold box special price. The other advantage of purchasing food in a brick and mortar store is that you can verify the product expiration date. Several reviewers complained about this product being stale and/or out-dated. I've purchased other food products from Amazon and have also noted they are pushing close to the expiration date, meaning that one needs to consume a case of food within a week or two before it expires. Buyer beware.

The old variety pack had, instead of Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut. In my opinion this was a good move. The Chocolate Chip tastes more "normal" as the Oatmeal Raisin Walnut bar was a little odd too me. The Oatmeal was a little on the rough side and hence, did not add to the texture.
I had always liked the Crunchy Peanut Butter, but the new formula for the Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch bar is simply amazing. Also, I think all Clif Bars since Dec 2007 have added moisture or something -- my friend and I both noticed in different packages that the bars are more moist and chewy than they were before.
Finally, get the variety pack so you don't get bored of one flavor by eating it too much... they key is to alternate, otherwise they'll taste and feel like you're chewing on cardboard :)

I find the Clif Bars generally good tasting and scrumptious with the exception of the Chocolate Chip, it tastes too sweet for me. I use them as my breakfast replacement with two pieces of fruit. I just can't make the effort to make breakfast in the morning. So the bars greatly help me keep a balanced diet of sorts. Especially because I am prone to skipping breakfast and I won't eat something till 2pm. This in turn would cause me to overeat at lunch or worse later at home for dinner. It keeps me sufficiently full and light on my feet, as I usually feel lethargic if I eat any meat products for breakfast. I googled the ingredients and they are of high quality and I asked my vegetarian friend she told me she is in love with them especially the convenience it provides with our busy lives. I highly recommend them. Cheers.

I love Clif bars and my favorite flavor right now is peanut butter crunch. I really enjoy the texture of the bar and I like that the variety pack has 3 different flavors so you don't get sick of eating the same one again and again. The variety pack is also a pretty good deal at less than $1 per bar. It's pretty fun to see what new, funky flavors the people at Clif can come up with!
